Pearson BTEC Level 3 Foundation Diploma in Art, Design and Media Practice

Course Overview

The BTEC Foundation Diploma in Art and Design is an internally assessed one-year course for students hoping to progress to higher education in art-related subjects. It focuses on critical awareness, creative abilities, and building a portfolio.

Entry requirements

• At least 3 Credits at SC/'O' level including Art /Design related subject and at least a pass in English Language

OR

• National Certificate Level 3 in Jewellery Manufacturing and Design,Art and design and related fields.

OR

• National Certificate Level 3 in Cabinet Making / Garment Making / Metal Fabrication / Printing.

OR

• At least 2 years working experience in the field of Art & Design for mature candidates or any equivalent qualification acceptable to the Academy.

Full Time
.Administrative Fees: Rs. 5,000
.Deposit (Refundable) - one off: Rs. 1,000
.Pearson Registration Fees - one off: £ 272
.Tution Fees per year: Free or Rs. 22,500 for students who are not eligible for Free Tertiary Education Scheme (FTES) / SADC Countries

Note

1. As announced in the Budget Speech 2025/2026, the Free Tertiary Education Schemes (FTES) has been reviewed to cover only full-time students as from academic Year 2025-2026.

The scheme covers tuition fees for Full-Time Registered Students of Mauritian Nationality enrolled in a recognized first award certificate, first diploma and first undergraduate programme. This exemption will apply for payment of tuition fees only, administrative fees and registration fees will be paid by the students

Prospects

The BTEC Foundation Diploma in Art and Design is a project-based course that allows students develop their portfolio so they have the best possible chance of getting a place at art college or on a BA or foundation degree. They will learn about skills and concepts central to art, design, craft and communication, developing their critical awareness, their creative abilities, and their capacity to explore new ideas.
