Level 3 Pearson BTEC Extended Diploma in Art and Design

Course Overview

The BTEC Diploma in foundation studies Art and Design is designed as a full-time course to support learners possessing SC/'O' level qualification who want to study art and design-based qualifications as the main focus of a two-year, full-time study programme. The qualification would support progression to higher education in its own right.

Entry Requirements

• At least 3 Credits at SC/'O' level including Art /Design related subject and at least a pass in English Language

OR

• At least 2 credits at SC/'O' level including Art /Design related subject and at least a pass in English AND EITHER National Certificate Level 3 in Jewellery Manufacturing and Design

OR National Certificate Level 3 in Jewellery / Cabinet Making / Garment Making / Metal Fabrication / Printing

OR at least 2 years working experience in the field of Art & Design for mature candidates OR any equivalent qualification acceptable to the institute.

Note

1.* In January 2019, Government decided to provide free tertiary education level courses (award certificate, diploma and degree) run on full time or part time mode by Public Education Institutions (PEIs). The scheme covers tuition fees for students of Mauritian Nationality enrolled in a recognized first award certificate, first diploma and first-degree programme on either full-time, part-time mode. Prospects

This qualification offer learners the opportunity to develop their technical art and design skills over their course of study through a process of critical evaluation, practice and review, which are key skills for progression to higher education. The qualifications also support learners to become confident in taking ownership of and responsibility for their projects.
